How it works

See the workflow your team would use

1Capture the service flowStaff scan pans as they go out and come back. Menu mapping connects each scan to the right item and venue.
2Review the patternSee production, consumption, and leftovers by menu item and service period, with scan completeness in view.
3Choose an operating actionAdjust first-batch quantities or refill timing. In Production Management, pick a menu cycle and comparable service, adjust guest counts, and edit item quantities. Then compare with a baseline while watching availability.

Where configured, the Mobile App gives managers a floor-level view of scan activity and item performance. Back-of-house waste and plate waste are separate workflows; pan scans alone don’t show what guests leave on plates.

Waste trackers tell you what went wrong. Metafoodx tells you what to cook.

Get the Buyer’s Checklist

Twelve questions to ask any food waste vendor before you buy or renew, plus a dated comparison.

  • What each system measures, and where in the food journey
  • What staff do on every scan, and how it holds up with student turnover
  • How results and ROI are calculated, and what a fair evaluation looks like

Questions from Leanpath customers

We’re under contract. Can we still evaluate?

Start by speaking to our team so we can get a better idea of your kitchen’s needs. A side-by-side pilot is possible only after a feasibility review, scope, and agreement for your site.

Do staff still bring pans to the scanner?

Yes. Staff scan pans as they go out and come back, within a defined workflow, so the measurement habits your team already has carry over.

Will scanning slow down batch cooking?

Scanning happens when a pan goes out to service and when it comes back, not while food is cooking. Staff place the pan on the scanner and the AI identifies the menu item, so there’s no typing; a one-tap pick is needed only when it’s unsure. Watch the workflow video on this page to see the pace. In the walkthrough, we’ll map where the scanner would sit in your batch flow so scanning fits around your busiest moments.

Can we keep our historical data?

Bring your past reports and we’ll use them as your baseline.

Which systems do you integrate with?

Metafoodx integrates with Jamix, Parsley, and Illumia NetMenu. We can bring in your menu plans by connecting to your current system, or your dining team can simply email them to us.

Does it measure plate waste?

Back-of-house waste and post-consumer plate waste are separate workflows. Pan scans alone don’t show what guests leave on plates.
